We are looking for the right person to lead our Finance team as a VP of Finance or CFO, depending on skills and experience. This role will initially involve both high level strategy and leadership as well as hands-on accounting work alongside our existing Accounting team. The successful candidate will be able to build out the team and focus more on CFO duties. This role is a full-time position in our offices in Emeryville, CA. Only candidates within commuting distance will be considered as we can't pay interview travel or relocation expenses. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES As a leader and manager, you will: Drive the creation of company’s financial plans and budget in concert with senior managers Prepare and present monthly financial budgeting reports, including monthly P/L, forecast vs. budget, and weekly cash flow Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations Identify, develop and execute analysis of budget initiatives, product launches and or new service offerings Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data for investors and company’s board of directors Oversee the month-end closing activities including GL accounts, balance sheet accounts and overhead cost allocation Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems processes, tools and control systems As a Finance guru, you will: Maintain banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners Utilize forward looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budgets Engage finance committee, leadership team, and board of directors to develop short term and long term plans projections and budgets Represent company to banks, financial partners, institutions, investors, and auditors Remain current on audit best practices as well as state, federal and local laws regarding taxation and company operations SKILLS/EXPERIENCE You must have: CPA/CA (or equivalent) qualified At least 10 years' experience in Finance roles, with at least three years in a management role Strong commercial acumen and technical accounting knowledge Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing business strategy Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to develop relationships at all levels Proven leadership and teamwork skills, and ability to encourage open and proactive communication across all departments You will do even better in this role if you have: Strong analytical skill Proven ability to communicate well with technical staff and the ability to define technical needs clearly Experience with e-Commerce and/or online marketplaces Project management experience A high degree of flexibility and ability to deal with change, growth and pressure Facility with Great Plains/MS Dynamics accounting software A love of books!
