We have an opening for a Software Product Engineer to support the Collaborative Authorization for the Safety-basis Total Lifecycle Environment (CASTLE-PX) Project. Your primary responsibility will be to perform production support, test new releases, deploy code for testing, contribute to the application development, and help maintain the large volume of Software Quality Assurance (SQA) support documents. This position is in the Applications, Simulations, and Quality (ASQ) Division within the Computation Directorate and will programmatically report to the CASTLE Project Lead within the Weapon Technologies Engineering (WTE) Program. This position will be filled at the 320.1 or 320.2 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level. Essential Duties Import and merge data from external data sources. Provide advanced application-specific help to remote users. Design, implement, and deploy code for testing, including executing SQL scripts against test databases. Independently develop and automate regression test cases. Develop and execute manual and automated test cases for new software releases, as well as perform integration testing with a Sandia National Laboratories (SNL) managed application. Assist in generating files for new releases including Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD), data dictionary, and JavaDocs. Develop, review, update, and maintain SQA documentation with each new production release. Develop new and maintain existing Confluence pages to track technology versions and infrastructure. Perform additional duties as assigned. In Addition, at the 320.2 Level Participate in advanced application development and code reviews. Analyze operational procedural failures, develop solutions, and provide direction in the use of version control systems (Git) and branch management. Define, develop, and implement original solutions to complex problems of a broad and diverse scope at the team, directorate, or institutional level. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of technical training and experience. Extensive experience in software product development or business analysis in a technical domain. Experience managing and operating distributed systems for an enterprise. Advanced knowledge and substantial experience using software configuration management tools (preferably the Atlassian Suite of JIRA, Confluence, & Bitbucket) with an emphasized focus in the use of issue tracking. Broad and in-depth knowledge of regression, integration, and/or automated testing. Experience working in a fast-paced Agile development environment with the ability to effectively manage advanced concurrent tasks with minimal instructions and direction. Proficient written and verbal communication skills and effective interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of personnel, collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment, and assist in the maintenance of SQA documentation. Extensive experience tracking technology versions and infrastructure with a high-level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to explain complex topics and processes. In Addition, at the 320.2 Level Subject matter expert with a high-level of technical expertise in Java. Extensive experience with Oracle databases, including writing advanced SQL scripts. Highly advanced knowledge of Software QA Engineering and/or Programming in the technology industry. Desired Qualifications Experience with HP Unified Functional Testing. Experience with JavaScript and ORM. Experience and knowledge of the skills needed for an effective customer support role to include relationship building, and collaboration skills with a proven ability to interpret customer requests while developing system requirements. Pre-Employment Drug Test: External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. Security Clearance: This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. If you hold multiple citizenships (US and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.
