Job Summary Provide programmatic and child specific mental health consultation and intervention to young children and families in Child Development Centers Assist with the early identification of at risk children and families and collaborate with outside agencies as needed ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide programmatic and child specific mental health consultation to teaching staff center directors and parentsObserve children in their childcare setting to assess functioning relationships with caregivers and other children and appropriateness of classroom placementTogether with teaching staff and families plan implement and monitor specific interventions for individual children or classroomsAdminister developmental screenings ASQ3ASQ SE as needed Assist staff to build and maintain productive and collegial relationships with one another as requested Assess and intervene in crisis situations to provide appropriate interventions or referrals as neededProvide training and workshops for staff and parents multiple times throughout the yearProvide referrals to outside agencies as appropriate and actively assist families with the referral process Participate in team meetings required outside trainings and communicate administrative information as neededAttend site meetings as appropriate including parentteacher conferences IEP and IFSPMaintain up to date clinical records and program logs on all services providedOther duties as assignedRegularly consult and communicate with administrators teachers and family regarding program and childrenProvide child specific caseconsultation to ECE staff to monitor and track the development of youngchildrenWork collaboratively with clients and other pertinent community partners ie DSS psychiatrists to provide assessment develop treatment plans and coordinate appropriate careProvides a variety of case managementservices including facilitating multiple agency staffing participating in collaborations and developing resources for stafffamiliesDocument provision of servicesassessments evaluations and treatment goals consistent with clinical andadministrative policies and proceduresEngage in reflective supervisionopportunities with supervisor and peersJOB QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience Masters degree MSWMFT or Doctorate degree PhDPsyD in Psychology Social Work Counseling or related field Prior clinical experience working with young children birth five years and familiesKnowledge of early development and experience with assessment of young childrens social emotional and developmental needs Prior experience working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary teamExperience providing mental health consultation within child care setting preferred KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES Bi lingual SpanishCantoneseEnglish strongly preferred Excellent interpersonal and oralcommunication skillsSensitivity to the communitysattitudes and strengthsMust be competent in working with people of diverse cultural and ethnic backgroundsAbility to work independently as wellas in a team settingUnderstanding of the conceptsunderlying young childrens social emotional development such as attachment separation and the ways in which relationships shapedevelopmentKnowledge of and experience workingwith trauma and an understanding of the impact trauma has on the physicaland emotional development of young childrenAbility to integrate mental health activities and philosophies into group settingsAbility to manage difficult oremotional situationsKnowledge of community resources andability to make appropriate referralsHigh degree of professionalismIntermediate knowledge of MS WordUnderstanding of the ECE culture andcommunityUnderstanding of OUSD school system andRCEB servicesWorking Environment Exposure to ill children and sometimesto bodily fluidsMay include frequent exposure topersons in distress or mental health crisis including but not limited tounpredictable escalated or potentially volatile behaviorsPhysical Activities Moving furniture physical action with childrenHours expected to work Part time 20 hours per week May need to schedule and participate in meetings after regular business hours or at parents convenience COMPENSATIONCommensurate with background and experience
