Position Summary
The Student Recruiter will be responsible for outreach, community engagement, and recruiting. Additionally, s/he will be executing an outreach strategy in a variety of communities in west Contra Costa County (with a focus on the community of Richmond and the surrounding area) for the purpose of recruiting students and families for the 5th grade lottery process at Making Waves Academy (MWA) aligned with our plan for strategic growth. This person will also support student enrollment efforts by providing admission information to prospective families, creating communication materials, and representing the school externally at community events.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop, plan, and lead local events to reach prospective families; represent MWA at key community events, recruitment fairs and other community outreach events that will bolster enrollment; target historically underserved communities in Richmond and west Contra Costa County
Distribute marketing materials to community partners and schedule information meetings at their sites or at accessible venues in the community Communicate with existing families to recruit siblings and access their local networks to support recruitment goals
Routinely reach:out to prospective and newly accepted families to keep them engaged, excited and informed about the school

Build and cultivate relationships with community leaders, faith:based community leaders and other key stakeholders in the community served by the school
Work with school leaders, faculty, and staff in planning school:based open houses, enrollment information meetings, and other school:based recruitment events
Plan and facilitate opportunities for new families to get involved with the school to help secure their decision to join the school family
Collaborate and communicate regularly with the Making Waves Foundation communications team identifying and sharing upcoming school events that help prospective families learn more about the MWA community

Project Management and Strategy
Manages and executes an overall enrollment recruitment strategy in order to meet enrollment goals for MWA
Track and analyze all data regarding student recruitment benchmarks and goals

Organizational Alignment
Demonstrate knowledge and support of Making Waves Academys mission, core values, standards, competencies, and code of conduct outlined in the Employee Handbook
Commitment to become an active participant in the school community : attending school competitions, performances, assemblies, and extracurricular activities


Ability to organize and manage projects
Proven relationship building skills with exceptional ability to collaborate within and across teams
Ability to communicate well : orally and in writing : to both internal and external stakeholders
Proficient computer and technological skills
Professional orientation : appearance, communication, organization and attitude
Experience with recruitment:related work within a school or similar field, community organizing, and community outreach experience preferred
Project management experience with administrators
Making Waves Academy mission and core values alignment
Experience working with students and families from historically underserved communities
Spanish language proficiency desired but not required
Associates degree required, preferably in a relative field of work
