About the Job The part-time Youth Intervention Specialist position requires one to be patient, professional and serious about providing meaningful after-school opportunities for youth. The position requires a person who is dedicated to nurturing the whole development of children. They are passionate about youth development and committed to promoting growth and change in underserved communities. They will be flexible, take initiative, be punctual and able to make a commitment to work throughout the entire school year, during after school hours. The time commitment runs concurrently with San Leandro and San Lorenzo Unified School District). Youth Intervention Specialists work in small groups of 5-10 youth to give individual assistance to students that are below academic standards for their grade level. They work hand in hand with teachers, administrators, parents and the Expanded Learning Director to provide specific curriculum and a road map to success in math, reading and writing to close the academic gap for each individual student. This program is truly impactful in it's ability to change lives forever. Location: Please note we service 12 school site locations Time Commitment: Part-Time Start Date: August 7th 2017 Minimum Qualifications Required A' . At Least 21 years of Age for the middle school programs, at least 18 years of age for the elementary school programs A' . At Least 2 Years of college (48 units), AA degree, or a Pass on the para professional Exam A' . Must have experience working with youth (Middle School or Elementary School) A' . Must be highly motivated to provide quality After School opportunities to youth A' . Must be a Team Player A' . Knowledge or expertise in youth development A' . Must be comfortable leading physical activities with youth A' . Must be available daily M-F during after school program hours (1:30pm-6:00pm) *Please note that this position requires person to be there every day for scheduled shift* A' . Current CPR and 1st Aid certification* A' . *We will provide training for certification! Preferred A' . Special Knowledge of Arts, Dance, Drama, or Sports preferred. -Bi-Lingual English/Spanish, English/Cantonese, English/Mandarin speakers are strongly encouraged to apply.
