Transplant Genomics Inc. (TGI) is a molecular diagnostics company committed to improving organ transplant outcomes, with an initial focus on kidney transplant recipients. Working with the transplant community, TGI is commercializing a suite of tests enabling diagnosis and prediction of transplant recipient immune status. Test results will support clinicians with information to optimize immunosuppressive therapy, enhance patient care and improve graft survival. Test services are offered through TGI’s CLIA lab in Pleasanton, CA

We are seeking a Clinical lab scientist (CLS) with a strong background in Genomics and experience in RNA Sequencing and Affymetrix array technologies to work in our Pleasanton, CA facility. This clinical lab scientist will be a critical member of the CLIA laboratory team where he/she will work with a diverse group of medical care professionals, including research scientists, bioinformaticians, clinicians and hospital staff.

Position Responsibilities
CLS will be responsible for implementing, testing and validating high complexity, high-throughput RNA gene expression molecular diagnostic assays in a CLIA laboratory. He/She will contribute to protocol review and development, and apply all quality control measures to maintain the laboratory standards. CLS will be required to troubleshoot issues with high complexity instruments and/or methods that may affect the analytical or clinical test performance. CLS will perform calibration and maintenance checks as required. He/She will help drive continuous improvement in the efficiency of current and new genomics laboratory workflows. He/She will also train junior CLS and other lab personnel on laboratory workflows. CLS will be required to maintain laboratory standards that meet CLIA, CAP and other relevant regulatory authority requirements.

Perform traditional RNA gene expression assays on Affymetrix microarray and NGS RNA sequencing platforms according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Perform traditional RNA extraction, PCR, QPCR and QC measures according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Perform and document quality control measures to maintain stringing CLIA laboratory standards
Identify and troubleshoot problems related to samples and/or instrument that may affect the test performance. Report problem and work with both internal and external knowledge experts to resolve issues.
Maintain inventory supply levels for all assays, perform and document routine maintenance, calibration and service or laboratory equipment.
Perform operational checks necessary to maintain test performance and to assure accurate and reliable test results.
Interact and work collaboratively with all different groups within TGI community.

Position Requirements
Advanced scientific degree desirable with (5+) years of laboratory services company
Must be a Licensed California clinical laboratory scientist (CLS); and meets California Department of Public Health/CLIA requirements for licensure as a clinical laboratory director for high complexity testing.
Knowledge or Affymetrix array and RNA Sequencing instrument technologies, assay methologies and performance metrics.
Strong technical knowledge of molecular biology and molecular testing laboratory practices (CLIA, CAP)
