JOB TYPE Part-Time

FARMcurious LLC is a family-owned local business providing education, inspiration and equipment for makers, urban farmers and kitchen crafters. This eight-year old company was started to help people reconnect with their food and understand where it comes from. Our focus on hands-on cheesemaking classes has made us unique among Bay Area businesses.

This is a fun opportunity for a friendly and outgoing hard-worker to gain experience in event coordination and production while learning about food-based DIY products and projects, and connecting to the food craft community at large.
We are seeking a part-time coordinator to organize and produce our program of hands-on food events, including workshops on cheesemaking, fermentation, charcuterie, and more to help people regain their connection to food. The work requires an energetic, well organized individual with great communication skills and a passion to oversee extraordinary events that will delight our guests.
The ideal candidate is interested in home-based food projects and might even have dabbled in some themselves; they enjoy being around people but are not afraid to roll up their sleeves and do the hard work. They have a passion for organization, an eye for detail, love being busy, and know how to work well with others.

This position requires some flexibility of schedule. Workshops are held primarily on weekends so weekend attendance is a must. We occasionally have mid-week events (day and evening) and ideally the candidate would be available for those dates as well; however, lack of availability during the week is not necessarily a deal-breaker. Events are generally a six-hour commitment, 4-8 times per month.

Key Responsibilities
Food Classes/Workshops (4-8/month)
* Attend weekend and (optional) weekday workshops
* Prepare space for events
* Welcome guests and help them get settled as they enter
* Clean up event space after workshops including dishes, sweeping/mopping, laundry
* Create and track attendee lists and name tags
* Purchase workshop supplies such as milk for cheesemaking, etc
* Track workshop inventory
* Help customers purchase kits and supplies after class

Festivals (3-4/year)
* Attend festivals and workshops to represent FARMcurious, including pre-event packing, load-in, set-up and break-down.

* Must exhibit honesty, integrity and be a team player, willing to roll-up your sleeves and do whatever is required to get the job done.
* Punctuality and dependability are paramount in this role
* Be pro-active and take initiative to identify and solve problems, have excellent communication skills and follow-through
* Must be tidy, efficient, organized and able to represent the company professionally
* Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with an eye for detail
* Self-motivation is key in this role

Bonus points for:
* Passion for food craft, fermentation, farm-to-table, homesteading and/or food policy
* Access to a car, a valid driver's license and insurance; ability to run near-by errands
* Ability to understand and use social media, preferably to promote a brand.

this position is PAID: hourly, $15/hr or more
