We are seeking candidates who typically possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience to fill a position as Financial Aid Counselor. The incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills and abilities needed to keep abreast of federal regulation and policy changes as well as any institutional policies. We prefer a minimum of (2) years’ experience in financial aid at a post-secondary institution. We are seeking candidates that have demonstrated knowledge in financial aid application processing: need analysis; verification; and awarding of federal, state, and university funds. The candidate must have the ability to explain detailed financial aid issues to students, parents and sometime other staff members; calculate federal eligibility; counsel prospective students; give presentations when necessary. We also require candidates who will accurately enter data; write clear and concise letters; and communicate effectively with students and parents. Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required. Experience with our SIS system CampusVue would also be preferable.

Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and education
• Minimum two years’ experience in financial aid

Skills and Abilities:
• Basic understanding of Federal Methodology and Federal /State financial aid programs
• Ability to interact positively and effectively with college staff, faculty, students, venders, guests, prospective applicants and their families, and others
• Ability to work with people of diverse cultures and backgrounds
• Ability to work independently while participating as a team player
• Data entry skills and knowledge of and experience with Windows environment, spreadsheet and work processing software
• Ability to demonstrate professionalism and sensitivity at all times as well as adhere to tight and pending deadlines
• Excellent analytical, customer service, and organizational skills
• Experience with CampusVue desirable.
