The BSN chairperson is the academic leader responsible for the management of administrative, curricular, and student/faculty issues of the program. The chair maintains standards for professional accreditation, university policy, and plans and manages the budget. He/she collaborates with other administrators to sustain strategic planning goals and priorities coincident with University values and mission. He/she models appropriate ethical and professional behaviors, as well as expert communication skills.Curriculum and Instruction A: Manages the BSN curriculum and instructional programs.A: Collaborates with student services and faculty on recruitment, marketing, admissions, orientation, scheduling, grievance procedures, advising, retention, special services, awards, and graduation processes for the BSN program.A: In collaboration with the associate dean for prelicensure programs submits course schedules and faculty assignments.A: Collaborates with the clinical coordinators and other program directors in the development of faculty assignments and course schedules.A: Responsible for curricular integrity to assure compliance with California BRN and CCNE standardsA: Collaborates with the NCLEX success coordinator and other prelicensure program directors to develop and implement strategies for student preparation for the licensure examination.Faculty/Staff DevelopmentA: Supervises and evaluates faculty in the BSN program.A: Works in collaboration with the faculty development coordinator to identify and mentor faculty orientation and professional development needs.A: Conducts or provides input for the selection of adjunct BSN faculty A: Collaborates with the assistant dean for operations in the supervision and evaluation of the administrative assistant(s). A: Assists in identifying new program opportunities for nursing and developing proposals for their development and implementation.Financial and Resource ManagementA: Provides information to the associate dean for prelicensure programs for macro budget planning for the BSN program .A: Manages the budget that pertains to the BSN program.A: Identifies grant opportunities for the BSN program and oversees as appropriate.Reports and Documentation A: Prepares accreditation and other relevant reports for the BSN program.A: Represents the BSN program, the school, and the university at relevant external conferences, workshops, and meetings.OtherTeaches in area of expertise The University has an institution:wide commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. Professional service implies the use of academic and professional expertise to serve the university, the nursing profession and the community.
