Job Description ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Drives truck to and from multiple destinations. Collects payment for goods delivered. Maintains Driver’s Log, according to state and federal regulations. Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive pickup and/or delivery instructions. Resolves problems with Customers in regards to pickup, delivery, and payment for materials. Loads and unloads truck when needed and covers material to be delivered with tarps when needed. Conducts pre and post trip inspections of truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water. Performs emergency roadside repairs such as installing tire chains. Positions blocks and secures straps around items to secure cargo during transit. Reads and interprets map book to determine driving directions to multiple locations. Follows safety procedures, uses equipment and materials properly and encourages team members to use safe behaviors Reports unsafe actions and conditions and maintains a clean work area. Performs other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Certificate of completion of Commercial Truck Driver training or twelve months commercial driving experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to convert decimals to fractions and fractions to decimals. Must be able to read a tape measure. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have a valid Class A, Class B Drivers’ License. Must possess a valid DOT Medical Card or be able to obtain a valid DOT Medical Card.
