Job Summary:

The Director/Manager Project and Systems Engineering is responsible for building and managing the Project and Systems Engineering teams in a start:up environment in order to facilitate the business and technical success of the product and multiple supporting projects within the constraints of the allocated budget and schedule. Coordinates with the Functional Managers and Department Heads to optimize the resource strategy/execution across all projects. Provides hands:on leadership and oversight of initial development activities while building the team of project managers/engineers and systems engineers. Coaches and mentors project managers/engineers and systems engineers, as necessary.

Primary Responsibilities:

Project Management / Engineering
:Manage the strategy and execution of multiple, complex cross:functional product development and technical commercialization projects in accordance with the Product Development Process (PDP)
:Develop and coordinate resource planning across functions to ensure that adequate and appropriate resources are applied to projects
:Develop, implement, and employ tools for effectively managing team meetings, including the scheduling of meetings, preparation of agendas, development of meeting minutes, and follow:up action items
:Develop and track integrated master schedules to deliver overall product and supporting projects on schedule and budget in accordance with quality standards
:Develop risk management methodologies, and proactively manage and mitigate risks on multiple projects
:Develop critical path analyses to manage product/project critical paths and to identify means to accelerate timelines, reduce costs, and/or mitigate risks
:Support project managers/engineers in the development of presentations for Governance Committee reviews

Systems Engineering
:Lead overall systems engineering and architecture development of new products
:Ensure engineering quality through application of best practices in Systems Engineering, including Requirements Management, Verification and Validation, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), etc.
:Facilitate design reviews and other technical reviews to ensure that product elements meet requirements throughout the development process
:Manage the development of overall product test plans and procedures and the design verification and validation activities
:Coordinate transition of the e product to Manufacturing Operations and/or Engineering Procurement and Construction firms (in/out of house)

Supervisory Responsibilities
:Supervise directly and indirectly associates working within engineering, manufacturing, procurement, quality, project management, administration, and other departments.
:Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
:Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
:Strong analytical, problem:solving, and critical thinking skills
:Experience in managing technical programs and facilitating integrated product team activities
:Significant experience with systems engineering and product development
:Demonstrated ability to earn the trust of team members and management
:Must be able to interact and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
:Must be competent in project management tools and methodologies
:Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for internal and customer presentations
:Strong practical organization, time management, facilitation, and arbitration skills

:Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering or related field required.
:Masters of Science or related degree in Systems Engineering or equivalent work experience.
