Job Description DTS Service Technician Job Description Basic; Commercial refrigeration and mechanical service. Based in Walnut Creek. Saturdays required. Clean DMV record a must. Mechanically inclined person. Detail oriented, customer service oriented, self-starter, honest, hard-working, no drama individual willing to ask questions, learn and help grow an organization. Organized individual. Effective verbal and written communication skills a must. Job Responsibilities: Maintenance and service repairs in the field at locations within central and northern California, and on rare occasions, Western Nevada. HVAC and chiller maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and installations, specializing in mobile and fixed site medical imaging centers. Much of work requiring ladder to access equipment. Knowledge, ability and certifications necessary to work with refrigerants. Understanding of procedures necessary to recover refrigerants, replace compressors, condensers, motors, and other A/C, Refrigeration components. Understanding of variable frequency drives, and programmable controllers. Ability to determine necessary materials for said work and communicate with supervisor and office for estimate preparation. Ability to record data accurately while on job site and communicate with parts suppliers or office personnel for parts procurement. Parts tracking and re-stock inventory in service van. Ability to retain service and repair training information and put to work in the field. Perform hydraulic trailer landing gear and lift gate maintenance and repairs. Knowledge of electrical systems related to 12 Volt DC hydraulic lift gate and landing gear controls. Capable of safely performing electrical repairs as it applies to HVAC, Chillers, Lighting, electrical outlets, 12 volt DC power systems and more. Perform Diesel Generator Maintenance and repairs. Oil and filter changes, radiator cleaning. Capability to perform maintenance on company Service Vans. Ability to complete said work while communicating effectively verbally with the customer on site about requirements, expectations. Ability to determinations when appropriate to proceed with service and PM tasks with minimal interference to customer. Ability to deal with irritated or stressed customers can also be necessary. Technical writing skills for on-site service and maintenance records, invoice production. Ability to complete necessary documentation on site and also complete service records in a timely manner for technical description of work completed, and billing information. Accurately document requirements and results. Familiarity with Excel and typing skills helpful. Capable of safely working while on a ladder up to 20 ft high, and able to carry the necessary tools and equipment to perform said work. Strength necessary to lift heavy components safely and stamina necessary to complete tasks in extremes of weather. Technicians should expect potentially uncomfortable working conditions, due to weather or cramped space. Able and willing to perform tasks on a variable daily schedule, after hours, weekends, and holidays if necessary. Able to be on call at times, ready and willing to respond to customer emergencies. Required to be available for weekend work on a rotating calendar. Typically periods of extreme weather (such as high temperatures) will result in more calls. From the beginning to the end of summer and December/January are busy times. Extended and irregular hours can be common during extremes in outdoor temperatures. Much time can be spent on the road, traveling to job sites. Overnight travel can be necessary at times. Availability outside of 8:00 am to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday is a must.
