Neato Robotics is seeking an Optical Imaging Engineer or Scientist to join our engineering team in the development of advanced imaging and ranging systems for our robotics products. A primary role of this position is to provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary engineering groups within Neato, and to engage in hands:on design, manufacture, integration and testing of LIDAR, time of flight, and camera imaging systems.
The successful candidate must have a thorough understanding of optical and imaging engineering principles, optical design, imaging sensors, and modular cameras experience, as well as strong analytical skills. We are seeking a candidate that can equally provide a rigorous analytical solution to a challenging design problem or can step back and take a common:sense approach to evaluate the problem.
Job Duties:
:High volume production designs of LIDAR, time of flight, and imaging subsystems.
:Integration of imaging and ranging subsystem into Neatos robots.
:Develop advanced optical sensor methods and subsystems to improve robot usability and efficiency.
:Develop innovative robotic imaging subsystems.
:Provide support to the engineering and production departments by troubleshooting critical processes, providing technical expertise and risk reduction design problems
:Support technical meetings with cross functional staff, including design reviews and other milestone events
Qualifications:
:A Bachelors degree, or an advanced degree, in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience with a focus on Imaging or Optical design.
:Development experience in the autonomous robotics industry is desirable.
:A minimum of five years experience working in a multidisciplinary project team environment; ideally with laser ranging, optical imaging, laser or LED illumination, and camera systems.
:Hands:on experience with lasers, optics, opto:mechanical and electro:mechanical systems.
:Experience with linear sensors, cameras (CCD/CMOS), LED lighting, optics.
:Experience with performance testing optical metrology instrumentation and validation of optical systems and components to achieve medium to high volume production.
:Experience with an optics design software is required.
:Experience with IEC80625 a plus
