We are a profitable logistics software company building mission critical systems that enable the world economy. Most of the material goods in the world are moved in containers directed by our software. As an architect, you will take a lead design role in the engineering team helping to develop tools and frameworks required to ensure overall operability, resiliency, performance, and capacity of our platform. You will be defining design principles, system and interaction views and enforcing platform reliability best practices. This role will report directly to the Vice President, Engineering.Define a holistic approach and create a system architecture strategy to support measurement and monitoring of the performance of our platformDefine guidelines and best practices in building scalable, high:performance systemsHands on coding of architecture projectsIdentify opportunities for scalability improvements and work with other system architectures to drive those improvements into the platformEvaluate the system architecture for performance implications. Work with engineering teams to make tradeoffs on flexibility, scalability, costs, and performanceCreate system architecture and design for components involving high volume messaging and database access in a virtualized environmentWork closely with the engineering teams to ensure that services and platforms are designed with reliability in mindDesign and develop prototypes for verifying and validating reliability driven objectives, including event detection, monitoring models, reaction strategies and mechanisms to automate service recoveryBS in Computer Science or equivalent, MS preferredMinimum of 10 years of experience in architecture, design and development of mission critical products with recent hands:on coding experience. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a lead engineering role driving performance and system scalability in a large:scale distributed systemHighly proficient in Java and solid understanding of the JVMHands on experience building systems with high availability and reliabilityExperience architecting multi:tenant applications (ex: Saas application)Expertise analyzing and troubleshooting large:scale distributed systems and willingness to help the product team diagnose and address production issuesOutstanding track record in enterprise:level full life cycle applications developmentStrong understanding of availability objectives, capacity planning, performance analysis, and instrumentation requirementsStrong familiarity with systems monitoring and profiling toolsStrong communication and written skills, ability to communicate and perform during high stress situationsExperience working in a high:volume or critical production service environmentKnowledge of or experience with highly:available supply chain, logistics or industrial systems a plus
