Technique – Proper grip, posture and physical independence.
Reading – From basic rhythms to complex charts, sightreading and interpreting written parts. Learn to write your own charts.
Styles – Understand the core of each musical style and develop ability to authentically replicate.
Improvisation – From fills to solos, develop your unique style and learn to “play what you hear”.
Dynamics – Learn how to fit in with a group or ensemble. Be more than a drummer, be a musician.
Drum Gear – Equipment selection, Set-up, Tuning, Studio techniques.

I am a trained Drummer/Percussionist with 30 years experience and have played in just about every musical environment possible. From casual and club dates, concerts, TV and movie recording sessions, to classical ensembles, theatre shows, Jazz and Progressive Rock albums.

In addition, I am a BMI writer with compositions currently playing throughout the world, so my perspective is not just from the drummer’s chair. My focus now is teaching what I’ve learned, as my many teachers have done for me.

Guitar Lessons in your home!

My teaching method varies from student to student... I try to find the
needs of the student and take the student in that direction... I
strongly resist teaching a curriculum. With anything in life, and
especially music, the student's potential, work ethic, and musical
interests are never the same. Thus, it would be unwise of me to hand
every single student the same old wheel of fifths, C major scale, a
few melodies and expect them to "play" guitar. e.g., I currently have
a student that never wanted to learn music theory; she just wants to
play songs... This is why I don't have a method I use for everybody...
I guess you could say my style is much more personal than generic. I
make a CD for each lesson and draw out a plan; when the lesson
caters to the student, I learn more about teaching as well.

What is your experience, including teaching of young students?

I have been teaching lessons for nine years now; I have a BA in
music... I started playing the viola as a child, then took on guitar,
piano, drums, bass, organ, and singing; I feel that learning the
instruments has benefited my ability to show others what I know. The
youngest student I've had is 7... the oldest are in their sixties... I
have taught music theory, guitar theory (scales, chords, modes, etc.),
jazz, and mainly, rock guitar (for example, Eric Clapton, Led
Zeppelin, Phish, The Kinks, Beatles, etc.).

where do you teach: in a studio? your home? our home?

I make house calls. It is more convenient for you this way. If you
live near San Jose, there is no extra charge. If you live more than 20
miles from me, I add $7 for gas. Parents are always welcome and
encouraged to attend sessions...

What is your fee?

I charge $25 per half hour and $35 per hour. I strongly recommend
hour-long lessons; there is only so much that can be done in a half
hour. If you are interested in lessons, call me at 520 975 8062.
Good luck in your search for a teacher and on your musical journey!

Franki LaMantia, New York City, New York
www.strokeland.com

Tony Adamo (Singer-songwriter)kicks it into high gear with help from the rollin’ lean mean funk machine: Eddie Henderson (trumpet), Mike Clark (drums), and Richie Goods (bass). Adamo’s long time guitarist/producer, Jerry Stucker, brought this mighty trio of great players together at Dubway Recording Studios, New York City. There the three recorded on two songs for Adamo’s new 2010 release. One of the songs is a second cover of a Tower of Power hit song. The other song is a cover of a 70’s pop hit that also grooves with the bad to the bone vibes of the legendary guitarist, Blackbyrd McKnight. Mcknight recently recorded on two cuts for Adamo’s new CD. “This Time it’s Real,” is Adamo’s first cover of a TOP hit song. It can be downloaded at www.strokeland.com. Strokeland Records is owned by Stephen ‘Doc’ Kupka, a founding member of Tower of Power.
DIG THE PLAYERS:
Eddie Henderson (trumpet) is now on staff at Juilliard School of Music. His bio-gigs include: Herbie Hancock, Art Blakey, John Handy, Joe Henderson and Charles Earland.
Mike Clark’s (drums) Blueprints of Jazz Volume 1 is listed as one of the best new CDs of 2008, Downbeat Magazine. Clarke’s bio-gigs include: Herbie Hancock and the Head Hunters, Wayne Shorter, Al Jarreau, Joe Henderson and Larry Goldings.
Richie Goods (bass) is an alumni of Berkley School of Music. Good’s bio-gigs include: Head Hunters, Christine Aguilera, Michael Wolff, Whitney Houston and his band, Nuclear Fusion.
Blackbyrd McKnight’s bio-gigs include: Herbie Hancock, the Head Hunters, Funkadelics, Sonny Rollins, George Clinton and the Pfunk All Stars, Bootsy Collins and Charles Lloyd.

Bass Player Wanted
We are D'Jelly Brains.

Played many, many shows. Ready to gig again. Right now we are guitar and drums.

We are in search of a new bass person. Bassically we are hoping to find someone who can rock hard but has open ears.
A finger style player is what we want.

Most bands have trouble describing themselves, let's just say that we are punk (as in the original pre-hardcore days) with a tiny bit of psychedelic and some metal. Ok, if pressed we'd admit to quite a few bands and styles we like, not that all of these are influences though. Here's a smattering - Wipers, Soundgarden, Firewater, Sonic Youth, VKTMS, Toten Hosen, Disturbed, Dead Moon, Stooges, Rocket from the Tombs, Metallica, Ramones, Monster Magnet, Rammstein, the usual culprits....

We've got a 45 and a CD will be ready soon. We also have a studio in San Francisco to rehearse in.

What we want, in addition to hard rocking, etc., is someone with pro equipment, time to rehearse, and a good spirit.
Not much to ask for, really.

The rest depends on compatibility. So let's start here -http://www.myspace.com/jellybrains

Hope to hear from you soon.
